Teaching Practice

We are pleased to announce that Voyager Family Health is a designated Training Practice.

Dr Riley and Dr Tighe are trained clinical supervisors and Dr Saeed will oversee medical students here at the Practice during the year.  Medical students are undergraduates studying and training to become Doctors they train under the title of FY1 Doctor.

FY2 Doctors are fully qualified Doctors gaining broader experience of working in different areas of medicine, including General Practice.

We will also have undergraduate Nursing students who are studying to become Nurses working alongside our Practice Nursing Team.

All of the Partners are enthusiastic about training.  Junior Doctors and students are supported by the whole Practice team.

Workload for our Junior Doctors and Nursing students is carefully controlled to be in line with their experience and abilities. This will mean only seeing patients after a suitable induction period and usually with extended appointment times of 20-30 minutes (the standard being 10 minutes).

We endeavour to inform patients in advance of the presence of trainees during consultations.

Whilst we hope that patients will co-operate with us to assist trainees’ learning, if you do not want trainees present during the consultation your wishes will be respected.
